Communities of practice are already widely used in IFAD. In this section, we have started building a list of them. We will be adding to the list continuously as we are given details of existing CoPs and new ones emerge.
IFAD Development Practices Community
The IFAD Development Practices Community has been established in 2022. The main objective of the community is to share ideas, good practices, tools and lessons learned that could be used to enhance the performance and effectiveness of development projects.
The IFAD Development Practices Community has been launched to provide all IFAD staff working in Operations, in particular to Projects Delivery Teams, with a forum where they can discuss together about their operational practices. Moreover, the community is also open to all IFAD staff, representatives of IFAD's members, fellow United Nations colleagues, representatives of academia, research centres, think tanks and the private sector, and those who wish to contribute to developing innovation for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

EvalForward is a Community of Practice on Evaluation for Food Security, Agriculture and Rural Development.

The objective of the FM Knowledge Sharing Network is to enhance knowledge sharing practices within the Financial Management Services Division (FMD). The Gender Network
The Gender Network was created in 2013. It is a Community of Practice on gender equality and women’s empowerment with more than 2 000 members.
The Network builds on the different levels of IFAD Gender Architecture and involves IFAD staff and Gender Focal Points, Project Staff at country level, and external partners, including gender experts and other resource people from international organizations, academia and research centres, policymakers, donors and other actors.
Its mission is to increase IFAD’s impact on gender equality and strengthen women’s empowerment in poor rural areas. The objective of the Network is to raise the level of awareness of on gender issues, foster learning and collaboration, and enable peer-support and access to technical backstopping, especially for IFAD-supported projects. FARM-D
The Forum for Agricultural Risk Management in Development (FARM-D) serves an important role as the main interactive space bringing actors together to exchange knowledge and advocate best practices for agricultural risk management (ARM) in developing countries. The CoP is managed by the Platform for Agricultural Risk Management (PARM) but all activities in FARM-D are collaborative efforts built on the strengths of its members.

The GeoGroup’s mission is to promote a systematic integration of geospatial tools, methods and data into IFAD operations providing an evidence-based platform for informed decision-making, monitoring and evaluation.

IFADASIA
IFAD Asia is an online community, hosted on Facebook, and counting almost 9,300 members. Its aim is to enhance operation effectiveness, networking and knowledge sharing for IFAD stakeholders and partners in Asia Pacific. IFAD Asia contains data and information on IFAD loans and grant projects, as well as on IFAD country programmes, in the Asia and Pacific region.

APR M&E Officers
The APR M&E Officers is a closed community properly focusing on Monitoring & Evaluation roles and activities. It has been created in 2018 and it uses WhatsApp as a main platform for communication. The CoP is composed by M&E Officers from Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The main aim is to share best practices on M&E mechanisms and provide peer-to-peer support.

FIDAfrique / IFADAfrica
FIDAfrique is an online community, hosted on Facebook, and counting approximately 3.600 members. Its goal is to connect people and partner organizations for learning, sharing experiences and innovation for rural development in Africa. The objective of the ICT4D strategy is to provide IFAD with a framework for leveraging Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to increase development impact and improve the economic and social conditions of rural people.
To this end, the strategy proposes four action areas: (i) promote scalable uptake of ICT4D solutions; (ii) strengthen ICT4D partnerships; (iii) enhance ICT4D knowledge management and sharing; and (iv) build internal ICT4D awareness, capacity and leadership.
ICT4D CoP aims at collecting and sharing key resources on ICT4D from IFAD and Development Partners, organize sharing events and discussions with focal points from interested divisions and develop and regularly update a tracker to map ICT4D solutions across IFAD’s portfolio. Visit this site!
