This section includes a short overview of the many different KM tools, techniques or methods that can be used at different moments during project design, implementation and completion. These are organized according to the kind of knowledge exchange process they support.
COLLABORATING AND LEARNING APPROACHES
The idea of "collaborative learning" refers to the steps taken by a group of people who work together so as to solve a problem, complete a task, or create a specific product. There are numerous collaborative learning approaches that can help to uncover deep lessons and experiences, and provide qualitative evidence of outcomes. A few popular and well-known approaches are included in this section.
LEARNING TECHNIQUES
Specific techniques enhance the way in which members of a team work together, and support the way in which they share ideas and opinions, come to joint conclusions, and plan future steps. These are used at different moments, and not only in a workshop or face-to-face event.
FACILITATION TOOLS
People working in IFAD, and in the projects and programmes we finance, organize hundreds of meetings and workshops every year, and they also help colleagues and participants communicate and share ideas in many different ways. Facilitation refers to the processes that support the exchange of ideas and information, or which enable discussions between different people so as to capture ideas, draw specific lessons, or encourage the adoption of these lessons. When talking about "facilitation" we frequently think of a workshop, but the role of a facilitator is not limited to that. There are many tools and techniques that a facilitator can use. This section outlines a few of them.
TOOLS FOR INTERACTING VIRTUALLY
Face-to-face meetings are not the only way to exchange information, and online tools and platforms can also be used for similar purposes. But these same tools can also help organize better events.
